World Between the Wars (1920s and 1930s)

March 7-April 3

Established Goals:

Political
  • Identify and analyze changes in political philosophy (isolationism and fascism) and government over time.
Social
  • Explain and compare changes in technology throughout history.
  • Interpret cultural interactions and compare and contrast their impact on societies.
  • Explain the impact of various social movements throughout history.
Economic
  • Understand different economic philosophies and their impact on historical events.

Essential Question(s):

1. How did the post-war recovery effort in Europe differ from what was happening in the United States (for example, the arts, technology, political philosophies)?
2. What factors contributed to the worldwide economic depression?
3. What was the worldwide impact of the economic depression of the 1930’s?

Summative Assessment: Museum Exhibit

Students are put in museum exhibition teams and are assigned a country. Students are responsible for researching and designing a historic museum exhibit to show how events in the 1920s and 1930s relate to their assigned country. These will include social, political, and economic aspects.
